After over a year of working with Alberta Environment, Ocean and Fisheries and Prairieland Consultants to ensure proper methods and approvals were met to do this South Saskatchewan River crossing project for RH Mitchell Ranching, we were able to successfully plow through 2 meters of riverbed silt and cobble at the bottom of a frozen, over 2 meter deep South Saskatchewan River with the expertise and help of Spider Plow in just 3 days!
In February 2008 at the RH Mitchell Ranch just Northeast of Medicine Hat, CerPro Energy Services crawled a 450 and 200 Excavator out onto the frozen South Saskatchewan River to begin breaking up the ice. After about a day and a half the ice was cleared and Spider Plow was ready to move in and plow in the 200m 3” HDPE Poly line through the 2m deep river. The line was installed to provide a water feed to the Mitchell cattle on the other side of the river during winter months. Total Plow time was only about a remarkable 3 minutes!
CerPro would like to thank Ian Mitchell of RH Mitchell Ranching for contracting us to do this unique project, Prairieland Consultants for their efforts in making sure all of the proper requirements for Alberta Environment were met in this special environmentally sensitive project, Ocean and Fisheries for their co-operation and SpiderPlow for providing us with their expertise in plowing through rivers with their amazing machinery! |
